authors. Kids will be absorbed by these engaging tales of family, friendship and self-determination in the
face of challenges. Steve the horse is sure he’ll win this year’s Race-a-thon… until he finds out that
Turtle, Duck, and Snail are his teammates. He gains confidence—and important life lessons—along the
race track in Kelly Collier’s Team Steve. Eli bravely brings bagels to his grandfather when their weekly
tradition is interrupted by a nasty fall in Andrew Larsen’s The Bagel King. And a granddaughter asks her
kokum about the importance of her Indigenous traditions in David A. Robertson’s Governor General’s Award-winning When We Were Alone.
