We had the privilege of interviewing Megan Lammam and adding her to our Parent Profiles. Megan is an author, poet, and energy guide who explores the healing energy of nature and connection. She is the creator and guide of ‘On The Path To Authenticity’, a journey of self-exploration and healing offered in her monthly newsletter. Her children’s book, Your Heart Compass, offers kids and families a gentle way to move through hard feelings with mindful energy of joy, kindness, courage, and calmness.
Tell us about yourself?
I am a mom, author and wellness guide who explores the nature of connection through language, storytelling, and meditation. I love books, creativity, and community! Every month, I guide my newsletter community On The Path and we explore the experience of being human, one feeling at a time. In my children’s book, Your Heart Compass, kids discover how to move through storms of big emotions by tuning in to joy, kindness, courage, and calmness.

Describe your family
I share my home with my husband, Hani, my daughter, Leila, my son, Tarik, and our dogs, Muffin and Mookie. We are a mix of Lebanese and Canadian cultures, so we have a lot of passion for food, friendship, and the outdoors!
What’s the most challenging part of being a parent?
For me, the greatest challenge about parenting is unlearning some of the ways that I was parented. For example, when I was a child, I was taught that “the parent knows best”. However, in my experience as a parent, that notion isn’t always true! I am often learning new and great things from my children. So, I try to stay open to learning from them and fostering a two-way relationship with them that is compassionate and collaborative.
What do you love most about being a parent?
I love the joy and wonder that emerges from me when I am with my children. They inspire me to stay curious and playful.
What is the best advice you ever received as a parent?
When my daughter was born, my mother-in-law told me to always lead by example and lead with love. She told me that you can’t tell another person how or what to love but you can show them what love looks and feels like by sharing your love. In many ways, this piece of advice guides the way I show up with love in all aspects of my life.
What is something about you we would find surprising?
I like to be alone. Even though I love people and cherish the relationships in my life, I need time alone every day to read, write and meditate.
