The 1st Annual Youth Rock’N’Bowl Concert Series is set to electrify Port Coquitlam with nine unforgettable nights of cosmic bowling, pizza, community, and performances from 14 of the city’s most promising youth bands. Featuring 49 musicians from eight high schools, two middle schools, two Universities, and five Elementary schools.
The average age of the musicians is 14, and some are as young as 8. This groundbreaking event showcases the next generation of Canadian musicians with a wide range of musical genres.
Wyatt Young, a talented 15-year-old drummer, expressed to his father the limited opportunities for under-aged musicians to perform live. His dad then pitched the idea of having concerts during bowling nights to the owner of Poco Bowl, and the concert series was born, with Wyatt booking the bands.
Co-Owner Curtis Madaski, says, “We’re excited to host this first of its kind event. Poco Bowl is an all-ages, family friendly venue that provides a fun, safe place for teenagers to go on Friday nights. And now with the concert series, we’re providing a platform for up-and-coming youth bands to perform, gain exposure, and entertain their peers.”

“It’s time we give our emerging young artists a place to shine, and in a venue where under-aged patrons can see some amazing live music,” says Scott Young, Event Co-ordinator. “It’s about building a platform for the next wave of Canadian talent. And to excite & inspire the thousands of young people that will hear about the events to pick up an instrument and take lessons.”
