Children everywhere love traditions (parents, too), and traditions make memories. Celebrating Giving Tuesday (November 29) is a tradition in our family, too. It marks the largest global movement of generosity and signals the start of the holiday season. This year, while writing up your family’s wish list, consider including some unique ‘gifts for good’ that will make a lasting difference for vulnerable children worldwide—and create a new tradition for your own.
'Tis the season for family traditions. Whether your family enjoys baking together, decorating the house and Christmas tree, or just snuggling in with a few favourite seasonal movies - the time to do it is coming up. We're very fortunate in British Columbia to have so many options to help us enjoy the season. You can get up the mountains if you want to play in the snow - Cyprus Mountain is now open. Or you can attend one of the City's magical events. Here are 4 of our favourites family traditions.
The Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) is thrilled to announce the most unique winter celebration in BC, the brand new PNE Winter Fair. The ten-day event features guest
favourites from the PNE Summer Fair and the PNE has translated them into a unique winter holiday experience including nightly indoor concerts by your favourite artists, holiday themed food and beverages, an outdoor Holiday Marketplace, carollers, a Holiday Theatre with live kids show and local performing groups, nightly tree lighting ceremony, a Christmas edition of Duelling Pianos, WinterLights walk through light display, and holiday-themed ice skating in the Agrodome featuring live music (*).
On October 31, many children will dress up and knock on your door asking for treats. Although Halloween is a fun holiday for kids (and even the not so young!), some costumes and decorations can pose a hazard, including a fire threat. Here are tips while trick or treating to reduce the risks.
heatre Under the Stars (TUTS) is back! This year, audiences will travel back in time to witness the birth of the world’s first musical and launch into the future for a rock-and-roll fueled revolution when TUTS presents Something Rotten! and We Will Rock You, running alternate evenings July 2–August 27, 2022, at Stanley Park’s scenic Malkin Bowl.
This May marks 50 years since the Burnaby Village Museum opened to the public for its first full year in 1972. They will celebrate the momentous occasion with new exhibits, entertainment and activities. They’re also excited to reopen for the summer season from May 7 to September 5, offering visitors an immersive experience of the 1920s village comprising heritage and recreated buildings.
The old fashioned spirit of Christmas comes alive during Heritage Christmas at the Burnaby Village Museum, presented by Concord Pacific, which returns for the holiday season beginning November 21 with spectacular light displays and historical exhibits in the 1920s village.
