Family Day is just around the corner on Monday, February 17, 2025, and the Lower Mainland is brimming with activities to make the day memorable for you and your loved ones.
Here’s a curated list of events and attractions to consider:
Vancouver:

Vancouver Art Gallery’s Family Day: Together, children of all ages and their families will explore storytelling, time travelling, geometric forests and more through creative activities, guided tours and art-making workshops, from city building in collaboration with Petit Architect, to movement workshops inside Emily Carr: Navigating an Impenetrable Landscape. Families are welcome to drop in to the Gallery throughout the day; activities are scheduled from 11 AM to 4 PM.
Vancouver Maritime Museum: Plenty of activities will keep the family entertained during your visit, including hourly storytelling sessions, entertainment from singer & stilt walker Peter G-G, a visit from the Canadian Coast Guard, tours of The Blue Cabin and Oarlock & Sail Wooden Boat Club. Family Day programming from 10 AM to 5 PM. Admission is by donation.
Big Bang Festival at Roundhouse Community Centre: An adventurous music festival for young audiences featuring live performances and interactive music experiences. The event runs from 10 AM to 5 PM on February 16th.
Burnaby:
Burnaby Village Museum: Explore the Love farmhouse, participate in crafting a folded paper model home, and enjoy heritage games. Open from 11 AM to 4 PM with free admission.

North Vancouver:
Love Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park: Celebrate love in all its forms. Experience the park illuminated with Valentine-themed displays, including the “Arc de Lumina” light tunnel. The event runs until February 23, 2025.
Children’s Arts Festival:Held at the Richmond Library/Cultural Centre, families can spark their imagination and experience music, hands-on activities, and performing arts from 10:30 AM to 5 PM. General admission is free; some activities may require a fee.
Surrey:

Museum of Surrey: From 1 to 4 p.m., enjoy free family fun with caricatures, sing-alongs, oversized board games, and crafts.
Langley:
Fort Langley National Historic Site: Explore and learn as you celebrate BC’s biodiversity with special guests, scavenger hunts, and blacksmithing demonstrations from 10 AM to 5 PM. Regular Admission and free for visitors aged 17 and under.
Coquitlam:
Lights at Lafarge: Enjoy the final day of this dazzling light display around Lafarge Lake. The largest free light display in Metro Vancouver, will be shining at Town Centre Park until February 17th. With the earlier sunsets, it’s a perfect evening stroll for the whole family.
