Holidays At Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon
The Holidays are a special time of year and all families have just one wish: to cozy up and spend quality time with their loved ones. Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon (RMH BC) ensures that families who are far from home can celebrate together and enjoy the festivities of the season, even while they are going through the most difficult of times as their child receives life-saving medical treatment.
RMH BC is built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child. By easing the financial and emotional burdens of caregivers and by taking care of important practical needs, their state-of-the-art House located in Vancouver allows parents to focus entirely on caring for their children.
More than just a place to stay, RMH BC provides a community of support and makes special moments possible every day: bedtime stories, home-cooked meals, and time spent celebrating holidays with family and friends!
Here are a few ways you can get involved and give back this holiday season:
- Build Your Own Local Community Tree – Between November 1 to December 24,help RMH BC Light the House from your own community by collecting donations through the sale of paper light bulbs at your business, school or workplace. Donors can write their name or a message of hope on each bulb, which you can proudly display on your wall or common area.
- Home for Dinner – Sharing a meal with loved ones is always a special occasion and it’s even more special when it supports families who are far from home. Home for Dinner invites supporters to host an intimate dining event with their loved ones to raise funds in support of the families who stay at RMH BC.
- Press Play for Families – Whether it’s gaming, music, sports, art or entertaining, join the Holiday Streaming Campaign by streaming your passion while fundraising for RMH BC families. This event is not only for gamers; you can take part by streaming anything you love to do and rally your community to tune in while you make a difference this Holiday season.
- Make a Donation – Browse RMH BC’s Virtual Wish List and help support families with this low-contact option. Choose from a variety of gift packages for kids, teens and parents or Gift a Night of comfort to a family. Or, honour a loved one by making a donation in their name!
Since 1983, RMH BC has positively impacted the lives of countless families through the most
difficult of times. Here, families from across B.C. and the Yukon, are treated to a safe space where they can stay close to their children, regardless of whether their medical treatments require days, weeks, months or even years to complete. Plus, staying at the House – which offers healthy meals, art and music therapy, and an ecosystem of support from fellow families– saves families up to $6,000 per month in accommodation, food and other costs associated with being away from home.
