John Mighton

Dr. John Mighton is an award-winning mathematician, playwright, and best-selling author, who is internationally recognized for his ground-breaking work building children’s confidence, skills, and success in math.

He founded JUMP Math (Junior Undiscovered Math Prodigies) as a Canadian charity in 2002 on the premise that with the right support, anyone can learn mathematics and love it. The organization’s mission is to address academic and social inequities created by low expectations for students in math, stemming from the belief that only those naturally gifted at math can excel at it while others are destined to struggle. JUMP Math’s evidence-based approach and curriculum-aligned Grades K-8 teaching resources empower educators in Canada, the US and other countries worldwide to successfully teach every child math. Dr. Mighton has published three books, given hundreds of talks about math, including a TEDx talk and keynote at the Aspen Brain Forum, and has received many awards and six honorary doctorates in recognition of his lifetime achievements.
