Summer Arts Camps are back at Evergreen Cultural Centre! This year, they are excited to offer seven weeks of unique day camps for creative kids ages 6 – 15. Join their knowledgeable educators in the Theatre and studio spaces to learn a wide range of performing and visual art techniques. Campers will be inspired by the natural world right outside the centre, the latest art gallery exhibition, and some of their favourite actors and Youtubers to explore the creative worlds of acting, improvisation, storytelling, painting, printmaking, dancing – and much more.
After experiencing their current exhibition, Semá:th Xó:tsa: Sts’ólemeqwelh Sxó:tsa / Great Gramma’s Lake, campers in the Visual Arts and Hybrid Arts Camps will spend time creating vibrant impressions of nature through different mediums, improve their art skills by studying light and shadow, colour theory, and learn about Canadian artists like Emily Carr, Susan Point, and Joe Fafard. With a focus on foundational skills and creative process, these camps will engage kids in traditional and unconventional art-making across all levels of experience.
Over in the Studio Theatre, Performing Arts and Hybrid Arts campers will get creative through a whole different form of artistic expression! Say goodbye to stage fright… by experimenting with theatre games, improv theatre techniques, and choreography for dance and musical theatre, kids will gain confidence in their performance and public speaking abilities to support their own sense of self-expression. At the end of the week, the Performing Arts campers will get to present their own unique characters and show off their scriptwriting and performance skills during a final performance for their friends and families.
These full day arts camps are the perfect way to keep kids engaged and creative during summer break! Whether your child likes to paint and draw, act and sing, or just clown around, they have an option for everyone.
Registration is still available for some camps, but don’t wait too long – some camps are starting to sell out! All camps are just $250 per camper (plus GST for 15+), and you can register through our Box Office or online anytime.
