Even though mommy-and-me matching outfit fashion dates back to the 1900s, it’s a trend that has yet to go out of style. It’s always a delight to see mothers and their kids wearing matching clothes, and it’s a fun and creative way for moms to dress up their mini-mes.
Have you had the opportunity to see Bobs & Lolo live? If not, you’re missing out. Bobs & LoLo are five-time JUNO nominated singer-songwriters as well as the creators and stars of the upbeat, musical preschool series – Sing, Dance and Play with Bobs & LoLo. Recently named Canada’s Favourite Kids’ Entertainer in a nationwide poll by CBC Music, this dynamic duo is dedicated to connecting children to nature with music, movement and make-believe. They’re a BC music staple producing songs that children of all ages love to dance and sing along to. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Bobs and Lolo live at a number of events and my favourite song is one of their new ones “Run Salmon Run“! In today’s BC Parent Profile we have an interview with Robyn Elizabeth Hardy aka Bobs. Born and raised in Lantzville BC on Vancouver Island, she’s been living in North Vancouver for over 10 years now, having lived in Kitsilano Vancouver for the 10 years prior to that.
Describe your family: I have a nuclear family with a husband, elder daughter Aria, and younger son Zai. We are a musical and energetic family who love spending time together.
Current job/career: I’m one half of the musical duo Bobs & LoLo, and we write and perform our own music all across Canada.
What’s the most challenging part of being a parent? The most challenging part of being a parent is trying to be patient with my children whenever I get really exhausted. Sometimes it can be trying!
What do you love the most? I love watching my children learn and develop into young individuals and watch their unique personalities shine through. I love spending time with them and going on adventures and exploring new things together!
How did you choose the names for your children? Our daughter’s name is Aria, and our son’s name is Zai. We chose the names for our children because Aria is a musical name, (an “Aria” being a long accompanied song for a solo voice, typically one in an opera or oratorio), and music is a gigantic part of the lives of my husband and me. As for Zai, I’ve always loved the sound “z” makes, so much so that I’d joke with my husband to prepare himself to name one of our children gazebo or Zamboni! We liked the idea of a short, simple name for a boy and Zai was a perfect fit! It also means tough, calm, steady, cool, and collected.
What is something about you we would find surprising? I have never drunk more than a sip of coffee in my life. I can’t seem to acquire a taste for coffee no matter how sweet I make it!
Favourite self-care activity? I enjoy Pilates and paddleboarding on the calm waters of Deep Cove.
We can’t wait to be able to catch this amazing musical duo live, but in the meantime check out their website for online shows.
