WWF BC Place Climb for Nature – Oct 24, 2026

Did you know that spending time in nature is one of the best ways to help kids thrive?

The benefits of nature for children are vast, with research showing that spending time outdoors can promote early childhood development (including cognitive capacity and socialization) as well as enhanced attention and self regulation. Frequently connecting with nature also has been shown to spark creative thinking, boost self confidence and happiness, and reduce stress.

The challenge: In BC, we have unparalleled access to incredible natural landscapes and diverse wildlife. In fact, BC is the most biodiverse province in Canada – unfortunately, as a result of climate change and development, habitat loss has caused a rapid decline with over 1,700 to 1,900 native species and distinct ecological communities at risk of extinction.

WWF BC Place Climb – Oct 24

The solution: In response, World Wildlife Fund-Canada is hosting the Climb for Nature at BC Place for the third year in a row. This family friendly all-ages event will bring nature lovers across the province to tackle the stadium’s 3,000 steps (or 6,000 for those brave enough to tackle a double bowl) to raise funds for critical conservation work throughout BC, including efforts with First Nations and other partners to restore salmon habitat in the Lower Fraser watershed, regenerate forests affected by wildfire in B.C.’s Interior, and reduce threats facing whales off the West Coast.

Children are inheriting the natural world being shaped today. By teaching young people about nature and conservation now, we can create the wildlife stewards of tomorrow, ensuring a better future for all.
