A luscious homemade playdough recipe (That smells divine by the way): This is a favorite family recipe and will give you the softest playdough that lasts for months! Get all hands on deck to create it. It’s an easy to follow recipe and my kids love helping!
2 1/2 cups of flour
4 tsp Cream of tartar
1/2 cup of salt
1 tbsp of Pumpkin Pie seasoning (Change it up to whatever you want, I share lots of tips and alternative ideas over on the gram)
4 tbsp of canola or vegetable oil
1 3/4 cup HOT water (This part is for the adults)
1.Mix all your dry ingredients together except your Pumpkin spice seasoning.
2.Add your pumpkin seasoning to the hot water and let it steep for a minute or 2 to release the aroma.
3.Now, make a well in your dry ingredients. Pour in your oil. Carefully, add your hot water mixture.
The mixing process is best done with a stand mixer but can absolutely be done with a spatula until you’ve got it together enough to pour it out onto a well-floured surface. At that point, again if you’re doing this by hand, knead it until it comes together. VOILA! The most luscious chemical-free playdough.
This will last months upon months, especially when stored in the refrigerator between uses. My kids can’t wait to dive in and I love setting up themed playdough sessions for them. Seriously, considering we’re going to be spending more time indoors come the colder wet months…This is a must-try!
Enjoy!
