Family Saturdays: Getting to Know Chinese Folk Instruments
On June 15, dive into a cultural adventure of songs and stories featuring the mesmerizing sounds of ancient Chinese instruments. This edition of the Vancouver Chinatown Storyteller’s Family Saturday will spotlight “Getting to Know Chinese Folk Instruments.”
Experience the captivating tones of traditional instruments such as the erhu, suona, and guzheng. The 2024 Juno-nominated singer Ginalina, along with the talented musicians of the Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble, will lead an engaging performance and demonstration. This event is co-hosted by the Vancouver Chinese Instrumental Music Society.
Youth of all ages will have the opportunity to hold and try playing these instruments as well! 🎵
Drop in anytime between 11 am and 1 pm to take part! Activities and admission are FREE for youth (17 & under). Youth under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Adult participation is with admission or free for Storytelling Centre members.
