Welcome to 2020! It’s a new year, the cusp of a new decade, and an all-around exciting time.

Like most parents, you are probably looking for things to do with your kids in this quiet, post-holidays, not-quite-Family-Day lull. The Wellness Show, happening this weekend, February 1 & 2, at The Vancouver Convention Centre, has the cure for the winter doldrums, both for kids and adults.

The Wellness Show, now in its 28th year, is Vancouver’s biggest lifestyle showcase, including 250+ exhibitors, and 100+ workshops, demonstrations, hands-on fun, and let’s not forget all the free samples! All for one low price, and under one roof.

For the kids this year, check out:

Farm to School: Kids can get hands-on and learn how to grow their food! Farm to School will show you how to grow your own microgreens indoors year-round and give you lots of inspiration to become more sustainable.

Table Tennis: Try this Olympic sport for yourself! There will be four regular tables, one junior table, and one mini table for the little ones, as well as professional players and coaches, to take your game to the next level.

Dragon Boat BC: experience Dragon Boating up close and personal.

Over on our Healthy Families Stage (for all ages):

How to Meditate to Increase Happiness while Reducing Stress & Anxiety: Dai Manuel, lifestyle mentor, and father to two teenagers, will provide you with a simple solution to integrate the healing properties of meditation into your life.

Supporting Immunity in Children: ever feel like your kids are continually catching colds? Petra Sovcov, a Clinical Herbal Therapist and owner of Healing House Natural Wellness Centre, will explore the immune system and break down some of its more essential parts in children. She’ll suggest a few traditionally used herbs for supporting children’s immune systems, along with supplement and dietary/lifestyle suggestions that can be implemented quickly to assist in bolstering a child’s immunity.

A Conversation on Addiction and how it affects Families: Addiction takes many forms, and we are just now learning that past trauma can have deep effects. Join Ben Goresky, Judy Lee, and Donna Low, who have decades of experience dealing with addictions, for this thoughtful panel discussion of causes and healing.

Also, be sure to check out the Celebrity Cooking Stage, with such favourites as Dawn Doucette of Douce Diner, learn to make sushi with the master, Tojo, and learn how to make your own Cultured Coconut Yogurt at home!

On the fitness stage, you can rock your workout by trying the popular PoundFit workout, a high-energy workout with music, and drumsticks that makes you sweat!

And you can never forget all the food samples. Discover new healthy snacks for your whole family!

The Wellness Show opens its doors from 10 am to 7 pm on Saturday, February 1, and 10 am to 6 pm on Sunday, February 2, 2020.
